To successfully overcome the global change from a oil-based industry to a bio-based economy biotechnology will play a key role.
Global sustainability pressures including high oil prices and environmental concerns provide a strong motivation for developing polymers that are more efficient in the use of materials and energy and are safe and prevent pollution. Many recent initiatives successfully focus on the use of renewable and environmentally benign bioplastics derived from agricultural and microbial resources.
To speed up the structural transformation to a bio-based industry, new types of collaboration between researchers and industry partners are needed.
According to this guiding idea the workshop will serve as a forum for scientific presentations and first contacts as well as a platform for project development and networking.
The workshop is an activity of the German-Russian Cooperation Network Biotechnology - supported by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) - and will be co-organised by the A.N. Bach Institute of Biochemistry (Moscow), the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnic Institute" and the State Enterprise "Scientific and Technological Park BNTU "Polytechnic" (Minsk).
Scientists from Germany, Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine are invited to present their work and cooperation ideas. Participation is free of charge - registration required.
Conference Language: ENGLISH
Travel and accommodation costs for speakers can be covered on request (see registration).
Participation in the event is free of charge – registration is necessary.
Directly after the workshop the East-West-Science Centre (OWWZ) in cooperation with CReED e.V. offer a qualification course on Bio-Waste-Management (10. - 13. April 2013) near Hanover.
